How to connect Google Search Console
It is simple to add your website to Google Search Console — it just takes few steps. Here, we’ll guide you through the process. Firstly, you need to have a Google Search Console account. Don’t have an account? Sign up now for Google Search Console. Once you’ve done that, you can follow the steps below:
- Go to Google Search Console.
Login or click ‘Start Now’, if needed.
- Click ‘Add a property’ under the search drop-down left hand side of screen.
You can submit up to 1000 properties to your Google Search Console account.
- Now you need to enter your website URL in the box and click ‘Continue’.
Please make sure you enter your complete URL. For example, if your site is https://yourdomain.com/ it needs to be that exact URL. Don’t forget the / at the end of the URL. If your website uses WWW or is using HTTP you need to add properties for those as well. If you are not confident what your site has, please speak with your host provider.
- Click the down arrow symbol next to ‘HTML tag’ to expand the option.
There are different options to verify your website, but we’ve made it easy for you. We only need to get the authorisation code so that we can directly paste it in header of the website.
- Copy the meta tag.
Select the entire meta tag code. Right click on the highlighted code and click on ‘Copy’ option or use the copy shortcuts i.e. ( ctrl+c) on Windows operating system or (cmd+c) on Mac system.
- Log in to your WordPress website.
When you are logged in, you will be in your ‘Dashboard’ by default.
- Now time to install the “Head, Footer and Post Injections” plugin
Head over to your WordPress Dashboard and navigate to Plugins -> Add New.
In the new plugin search box, type “Head, Footer and Post Injections”and search. Install and Activate the plugin.
- Paste in your Google Search Console verification code
Once the plugin is activated, navigate to Settings->Header and Footer.
Paste the Google authorization code into the top left text box.
Scroll down to the end and click the Save button.
- Go back to Google Search Console window and click on ‘Verify’.
Your website will be verified.
